He tucked her in, she kissed his chin. Just another thing, she'd never get to see. Just another person she could never be. Just another face she could never see, again, or pretend it was like back then. When will it end? Not something he ever said, not in all the books she read. Not a thought that crossed her head, not that, back then, many did. So it seemed strange, a bit out of place, a stranger wearing, such a loving face. Such change, still caring, so why did it feel so.. estranged? Thought that once. Twice a month. Let little hates dominate her fate. But this is about his face. One time, in that place, Before he sent her off to.. Space? What else would you call this place? Home is a memory, that can never be, so to say that here, without him near, seems empty, to me. To me, to the me that went.. that he sent, to be, his decree.. Set free, she thought, before she sought, answers more clear, thoughts more near, to what someone would do, had they but one choice, not two. He kissed his daughter, fast to sleep. Held her close, hoped she'd dream. Hoped for a lot of things, really. Hoped the world for her, eventually. Whatever world she woke to see, long lost from this. Lost to a man she'd never miss. He thought that once, twice a month. He looked up, broken reverie. The sky burned, the stars fell. The seas boiled, and he.. What more do you wish I say.. ? He never woke, she one day did. aeza | |
